Cassis: Democratic resilience will be one of the fundamental conditions for European stability
Bern, May 15 (Hibya) - Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis spoke about his address at the ministerial meeting held in Chisinau and Switzerland’s commitment to international justice.
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis stated at the 135th Meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe that democratic trust must be restored, announcing their support for the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression to ensure a just peace in Ukraine.
Referring to the functioning of democratic institutions and the content of the meeting, Cassis said, “Democratic resilience will be one of the fundamental conditions for European stability. I made this call in Chisinau during the 135th Meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.”
Emphasizing their support for peace efforts in Ukraine and the tribunal decision, Cassis stated, “As at the Bürgenstock Conference in 2024, Switzerland continues its pursuit of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
Referring to Switzerland’s support, Cassis added, “In this spirit, by sending a clear signal against impunity, I announced Switzerland’s support for the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression.”
