Kyiv, May 25 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a message on the occasion of Memorial Day in the United States, emphasizing the historic role of the U.S. in global freedom and European security.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky published a message on the occasion of Memorial Day in the United States, which commemorates military personnel who lost their lives.
Highlighting the historical and national importance of the day, Zelensky said, “Today is Memorial Day in America — a national day of respect for every person who defended America and freedom in uniform.”
Recalling America’s contributions to Europe’s independence from the past to the present, Zelensky stated, “Without the United States, there would be no European freedom — and the 20th century clearly proved this.”
Stating that Russia’s attacks against Ukraine threaten the entire continent, Zelensky said, “Now Russia’s full-scale war is not only against Ukraine, but also against the very foundation of such a Europe — a free, democratic, united Europe.”
Emphasizing the foundation of the global order established after World War II, Zelensky said, “After World War II, the foundation of the world’s economic and, in many ways, social development has been and continues to be Euro-Atlantic unity.”
Zelensky concluded his message by expressing gratitude to the American people and administration:
“Ukraine is grateful to the United States for supporting our defense and to all compassionate American hearts that continue to support Ukraine.”
