Zakharova: Those responsible will be held accountable
Moscow, July 3 (Hibya) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned the drone strike on a marketplace in Tokmak and announced that an investigation into the incident had been launched.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova issued a statement regarding the drone attack on a marketplace in the city of Tokmak in the Zaporizhzhia region.
According to Zakharova, based on the Russian authorities' preliminary assessment, five people were killed and 18 others were injured in the attack. She stated that 14 of the injured are being treated at Tokmak Hospital, while four critically injured victims have been transferred to Melitopol Hospital.
Zakharova said that Russia's Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the incident on charges of a "terrorist attack" and stressed that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.
In its statement, the Russian side alleged that the attack had been carried out by Ukraine and called on the international community and relevant organizations to provide an "impartial assessment" of the incident.
Ukrainian authorities, however, have presented different accounts regarding these Russian claims. The statements made by the parties concerning the attack have not been independently verified.
