Qatar calls at the UN for action on Sudan: Humanitarian crisis is worsening
Doha, July 3 (Hibya) – Qatar expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Sudan due to the ongoing attacks on El Obeid and its surrounding areas, calling on all parties to comply with international law.
During the United Nations Human Rights Council's emergency session on the conflict in Sudan, Qatar stated that the humanitarian crisis in the country continues to deteriorate.
Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, expressed deep concern over attacks targeting civilians and critical infrastructure in El Obeid and the surrounding areas.
Qatar called on all parties to comply with international humanitarian law and international human rights law, de-escalate tensions, and bring the fighting to an end.
The statement also stressed that dialogue between the parties in Sudan is the only path to lasting peace, while reaffirming support for Sudan's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
