Upward trend in U.S. markets
Istanbul, May 26 (Hibya) - A predominantly positive trend was observed in U.S. stock markets during the trading day. The Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq indices closed the day higher, while the volatility index VIX declined.
Major indices in U.S. markets posted gains during the trading day.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) rose by 0.58 percent to 50,579.70 points. The S&P 500 index also gained 0.37 percent to close at 7,473.47 points.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq index increased by 0.19 percent to 26,343.97 points. The Russell 2000 index, which tracks small-cap companies, also rose by 0.91 percent to 2,869.225 points.
The VIX index, which measures market volatility, fell by 0.66 percent to 16.59.
