Kallas: Quickly reopening the Strait of Hormuz should be a priority
Abu Dhabi, April 9 (Hibya) – European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas met with UAE Minister of State for Population and Citizenship Abdullah bin Zayed to discuss the war with Iran, the ceasefire process, and the status of the Strait of Hormuz.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas made a statement on regional security and bilateral cooperation as part of her contacts in Abu Dhabi.
Drawing attention to regional tensions and the ceasefire process, Kallas said: “In Abu Dhabi, I met with Minister of State for Population and Citizenship Abdullah bin Zayed to discuss the war with Iran and its effects on the region, including Lebanon and Iraq.”
Referring to the Strait of Hormuz and strategic priorities, Kallas stated: “The U.S.-Iran ceasefire is still fragile, but the alternative is bleak. Quickly reopening the Strait of Hormuz should be a priority.”
On the future of bilateral relations, Kallas said: “We also discussed our bilateral cooperation and how to advance the EU-UAE partnership, including in the areas of security and defense.”
