El Salvador President Nayib Bukele announced that he will send 100 tons of humanitarian aid to earthquake-hit Colombia.
Bukele said that at this stage the Colombian government has requested only humanitarian supplies, noting that the country’s search and rescue, medical and other emergency teams are already working on the ground. He said there was therefore no need for additional personnel support, adding, “We decided to send 100 tons of humanitarian aid on two cargo planes.” Bukele said the first plane would depart tonight and the second tomorrow, adding that they would continue to monitor developments and were ready to provide additional support to Colombia if needed.
Bukele shared a message of condolences and solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake, the injured and the Colombian people.
