Sybiha meets UNESCO Director-General El-Enany
Kyiv, August 15 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that they hosted Khaled El-Enany, who was elected Director-General of UNESCO, during his first official visit to Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on the Kyiv visit of the leadership of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), outlining discussions on the protection of historical heritage and the future of institutional cooperation.
Highlighting the diplomatic significance of the visit, Minister Sybiha said, "I was very pleased to welcome Khaled El-Enany on his first visit to Ukraine as UNESCO Director-General. I expressed my gratitude for this important visit, his participation in events marking the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and UNESCO's continued support for Ukraine."
Emphasizing cooperation, Sybiha said, "I believe the Director-General's visit will provide additional momentum to further strengthen our cooperation and represents an important step in Ukraine-UNESCO relations."
Emphasizing the protection of cultural assets, which was at the center of the meeting, Sybiha said, "Following Russia's recent deadly attacks, we focused on protecting Ukraine's cultural heritage, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and on UNESCO's monitoring of Ukrainian World Heritage sites that are threatened and damaged by Russia's deliberate attacks."
