Qatar issued a statement regarding Iran’s attacks on several Arab countries and the Houthis’ actions in Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea.

According to a statement by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar’s Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Jassim Yacoub Al Hammadi, addressed a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna.

Al Hammadi condemned the Houthis’ targeting of civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia, as well as their attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Expressing solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Al Hammadi said Qatar supports legitimate measures aimed at protecting the country’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

Al Hammadi also condemned Iran’s recent attacks on the territories of Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, stating that the attacks constituted violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the targeted countries.

Referring to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, adopted in March 2026, Al Hammadi said Iran’s attacks on Arab countries were contrary to international law and posed a threat to international peace and security.

Al Hammadi said Qatar would maintain its position calling for a return to dialogue and negotiations in the Gulf region and an end to military escalation, adding that the current crisis affects energy, trade, maritime transport and supply chains, as well as international peace and security.

Al Hammadi said developments in the Gulf region should not overshadow the priority of the Palestinian issue.

Commenting on developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, Al Hammadi argued that Israel continues territorial annexation, forced displacement and violations of Palestinian rights.

Referring to statements by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Defense Minister Israel Katz regarding the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, Al Hammadi said such attempts are contrary to international law, international humanitarian law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Al Hammadi said Qatar rejects attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians and stated that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Al Hammadi said that in order to achieve a lasting and just peace, the two-state solution must be implemented, providing for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
