Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic assessed the government's efforts regarding the waste problem in the city of Gospic.

Plenkovic announced that the process of removing a total of 37,000 tons of waste would be accelerated, saying that those who committed crimes would be held accountable and that the state would also seek reimbursement for the cost of the cleanup.

Referring to measurements conducted by the Croatian Institute of Public Health, Plenkovic said that drinking water in the Lika region is not under threat and that the public will be regularly informed about water quality.

Plenkovic emphasized that efforts regarding the waste problem would be carried out calmly, rationally, seriously, professionally and responsibly, saying that they would proceed “without hysteria, panic or drama.”

Plenkovic also said that the governing coalition is stable and argued that the opposition's attempt to bring down the government would end in the same way as previous similar attempts.
