UN steps up humanitarian assistance following earthquakes in Venezuela
New York, June 27 (Hibya) – The United Nations (UN) is increasing humanitarian assistance following the earthquakes in Venezuela while continuing to coordinate international relief efforts.
According to CCTV, the United Nations (UN) has increased humanitarian assistance following the earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
UN Secretary-General's Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said at a press briefing on Friday that Secretary-General António Guterres held a phone call on Thursday night with Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez and conveyed messages of solidarity to the Venezuelan people and government.
Dujarric said, "The Secretary-General spoke last night with Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez. During the conversation, he expressed his solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes. The Secretary-General pledged the full cooperation of the UN system in support of the government-led relief efforts."
