Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha issued a statement on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Sybiha said they welcomed at Kyiv Railway Station their allies who arrived in the country to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Ukraine regaining its independence. Sybiha thanked President of the European Council Antonio Costa, Andy Burnham from the United Kingdom, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Estonian President Alar Karis for coming to Kyiv.

Emphasizing that independence is not an abstract concept for Ukraine, Sybiha said his country is defending its independence despite all challenges.

Sybiha said that in times like these, countries better understand the importance of having allies by their side, adding that Ukraine knows who its true friends are.

Sybiha said they are grateful to all partners who stand by their country, strengthen its defense capabilities and help it protect the freedom it is fighting to regain, adding that the support of allies is part of Ukraine’s strength.
