Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, they respectfully honor the memory of those who lost their lives and stressed the solidarity of the Ukrainian people with the American people.

Sharing his feelings on the day of remembrance, Sybiha said, “Today, we commemorate the victims of the terrorist attacks that took place in the United States of America on September 11, 2001.”

Highlighting the significance of the anniversary, Sybiha said, “Twenty-five years have passed since that horrific day, yet the loss is still deeply felt by millions of people.”

Conveying the condolences of the Ukrainian people, Sybiha said, “As we remember that dark day, we Ukrainians also mourn alongside the American people.”

Commemorating those who lost their lives, Sybiha said, “We respectfully honor the memory of the 2,977 innocent people who lost their lives that day, including Ukrainians, and we stand with their families and loved ones.”

Emphasizing the sacrifice of search and rescue teams and heroes, Sybiha said, “This date also reminds us all of the heroic sacrifice shown by those who risked everything to save others during that horrific period. We respectfully salute their courage.”

Sybiha concluded his statement by citing the example of a first responder of Ukrainian origin: “There were Ukrainians among them as well, such as Ivan Skala, a New York police officer and medic of Ukrainian origin who sacrificed his life while rescuing people from the World Trade Center.”
