Sybiha: Freedom of navigation in the Black Sea is non-negotiable
Kyiv, October 15 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called for the protection of freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, stating that Russian attacks are endangering civilian maritime transport and that Europe must deliver a united response.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expressed his support on social media for Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu's call to protect freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
Sybiha said, “I share her concerns about protecting freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and fully support her call. Russia's aggression requires a united and decisive response from Europe.”
Sybiha argued that Russia has turned the Black Sea into a dangerous area for civilian maritime transport, stating that these actions endanger the lives of seafarers, threaten international trade and undermine global food security.
Emphasizing that the Black Sea must not become hostage to Russian aggression, Sybiha noted that Ukraine is working alongside Romania, Bulgaria and other European partners to protect maritime security. Sybiha stated, “Freedom of navigation is non-negotiable. Russia must not be allowed to set the rules through intimidation and the use of force.”
