Qatari Prime Minister Al Thani and Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdelatty discuss cooperation
Cairo, August 20 (Hibya) - Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed bilateral relations, Gaza and regional developments with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met in Cairo with Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
The meeting addressed cooperation between the two countries and ways to support and develop it, while also reviewing ways to strengthen joint action and alignment of views in various fields.
The two sides reaffirmed their determination to advance bilateral relations by building on the momentum reflected in high-level visits and continued coordination and consultations. They also emphasized the importance of holding the Joint Higher Committee regularly and translating the outcomes of its seventh session into concrete steps.
The meeting highlighted progress in economic and investment relations, noting that trade volume between the two countries increased by 80 percent in 2025 and that Qatari investments in Egypt continue to grow. The launch of a sustainable aviation fuel production project through direct Qatari investment in the Suez Canal Economic Zone was also cited among the developments in economic cooperation.
The two sides also discussed developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, as well as diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions. They condemned Israel's rejection of the roadmap aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and the establishment of a Palestinian state, stressing the need to continue coordination in support of regional security and stability.
The meeting also covered maritime security and freedom of navigation, Lebanon's security and sovereignty, developments in Sudan and the situation in the Horn of Africa. Qatar and Egypt stated that they would continue close coordination and consultations on regional and international developments.
