Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic presented economic indicators and priorities for the coming period ahead of the 10th anniversary of his government taking office.

Plenkovic said next week would mark 10 years since the Croatian Parliament first gave his government a vote of confidence, describing the period as one of political stability and a clear direction for development.

Plenkovic said the average net salary reached 1,540 euros in July and had more than doubled. He said he expected the government to exceed its 1,600-euro salary target by the end of its term.

Plenkovic said the number of employed people had increased by 300,000, while the number of insured people reached a record of approximately 1.8 million. He said the average total pension, including the annual additional payment, rose by 120 percent to 780 euros. Plenkovic added that the new annual additional payment would average 208 euros and that income tax would not be collected from January 1.

Plenkovic said the economy was expected to grow by about 2.3 percent in 2026 and that Croatia’s gross domestic product (GDP) would exceed 100 billion euros for the first time. He also said electricity and natural gas costs were being subsidized under the 11th support package for citizens, businesses and public institutions.

Plenkovic listed demographic renewal, affordable housing, improved healthcare services, completion of post-earthquake reconstruction, energy security, a more effective judiciary and modernization of the Croatian armed forces among the priorities for the coming period.

Plenkovic said these priorities were part of the goal of securing a safer future for Croatia and represented a responsibility undertaken by the government.
