Netherlands calls for press freedom in the Middle East
Amsterdam, July 28 (Hibya) - The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that press freedom in the Middle East is under pressure and called for journalists to be able to carry out their work freely and safely.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on press freedom in the Middle East.
In a post shared on the ministry's social media account, it said that the Netherlands, as a member of the Media Freedom Coalition, supports the joint statement issued by 24 countries.
The statement noted that press freedom in the region is under pressure and called for ensuring that journalists can perform their duties freely and in a safe environment.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that independent information is of critical importance to societies and stressed that free journalism must be protected.
