Mucunski stated that enlargement is an inevitable necessity for both the European Union and candidate countries, emphasizing that the Western Balkans should not remain a “grey zone” in Europe. He stressed that the region should have a clear and credible perspective toward EU membership.

In his statement, Mucunski also drew attention to North Macedonia’s full alignment with the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), saying that this is a strong indicator of his country’s European orientation.
