Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten was welcomed by Prime Minister Luc Mercelina in Sint Maarten, the first stop of his Caribbean tour. Jetten stated that they discussed the opportunities and challenges facing Sint Maarten during his meetings with the island administration.

The discussions particularly addressed the effects of geopolitical developments, such as high oil prices, on the island’s economy, as well as the reconstruction process following Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which severely affected Sint Maarten in 2017. Jetten said the recovery efforts on the island were impressive and highlighted the resilience of the local population.

Prime Minister Jetten also met with Sint Maarten Governor Ajamu Baly, members of the Council of Ministers, and parliamentary representatives. During the talks, the importance of continuing cooperation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the basis of “equality and mutual respect” was emphasized.

Security issues also featured prominently during the visit. In meetings with Justice Minister Ms. Tackling, police officials, and judicial representatives, it was stated that maintaining cooperation in border security, organized crime, and regional security remains of vital importance.

Stating that his Caribbean visit had started successfully, Jetten thanked the people of Sint Maarten for their warm welcome and announced that his next stop would be Saba.
