Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei made an assessment of the international legal order in the context of developments in Gaza.

Criticizing the current international order, Baqaei said, “Is this the international order of the 21st century, or the Wild West, where a person who declares himself sheriff can post a ‘Wanted’ notice on social media and act as judge, jury and execution authority whenever he wants?” Baqaei said that a competent international court is investigating crimes committed in Gaza and has issued arrest warrants for Israeli individuals. He argued that a single social media post cannot change the law, invalidate due process or nullify the decisions of international courts.
