Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand shared her country’s position regarding the ongoing military activity and civilian casualties in the region following Ukraine’s ceasefire proposal.

Referring to the impact of the attacks, Anand said, “Canada strongly condemns Russia’s latest drone attacks that caused the deaths of Ukrainian civilians and damaged critical infrastructure, including a kindergarten.”

Speaking about Putin’s stance, Anand stated, “These horrific attacks occurred less than 24 hours after Ukraine’s offer of an unconditional ceasefire, and Russian attacks continued after the proposed start date, showing how unserious Putin is about peace.”

Expressing her call to Russia and message of support, Minister Anand said, “We call on Russia to immediately end its illegal and unjust war and engage in meaningful peace talks. We remain steadfast in our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
