According to CCTV, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that it is preparing for possible radioactive contamination and environmental risks following attacks on nuclear facilities and oil fields in the Middle East.

WHO spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said that Iran had informed the International Atomic Energy Agency about an attack on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, but no damage or casualties were reported.

The statement noted that the International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed there has been no increase in radiation levels in Iran and neighboring countries and no evidence of damage to any nuclear reactors.

It was reported that damage occurred at the entrance of the Natanz nuclear facility in Isfahan province and that an irradiation facility in the same area was also affected, but no radioactive impact has been detected so far.

Lindmeier emphasized that managing nuclear and environmental contamination risks requires specialized public health monitoring and response capacities that exceed those of many countries.

The statement added that in the event of a possible leak, WHO would undertake responsibilities such as assessing public health risks, implementing health measures, informing the public, and supporting health authorities in emergency response efforts.

It was also reported that WHO has trained approximately 2,000 personnel from 13 countries on public health risks and personal protection measures against high radiation exposure.
