Von der Leyen: We can make Europe stronger
Brussels, September 28 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Mindaugas Sinkevičius ahead of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which begins in January. Von der Leyen said a busy period lies ahead, particularly in strengthening defense and supporting Ukraine.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made a statement regarding her meeting with Mindaugas Sinkevičius ahead of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Von der Leyen said, “We have busy months ahead, from strengthening our defense, especially on our eastern flank, to supporting Ukraine in bringing this war to a just end.”
Saying that Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkans should be brought closer to the European Union, von der Leyen stated, “Together, we can build an even stronger Europe, ready for the challenges of our time.”
Von der Leyen added that securing a budget aligned with their goals was also discussed during the meeting.
