European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made remarks on the defining role of Europe's social model.

Highlighting the importance of the social model, von der Leyen said: "Europe's social model defines who we are."

Referring to the current economic challenges, von der Leyen stated: "As our societies face challenges, including the rising cost of living, our responsibility is clear: to protect, empower, and support our citizens."

Pointing to the way forward, von der Leyen stressed that the European Pillar of Social Rights is Europe's compass, providing a roadmap for a Europe built on fairness, opportunity, and solidarity.
