Volker Türk: Discrimination against people of African descent must end
New York, April 14 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said that people of African descent are subjected to discrimination.
United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk spoke about the protection of human rights, referring to the global dimensions of systemic racism.
Assessing the ongoing rights violations, Türk said, “People of African descent are subjected every day to discrimination, exclusion, and inhuman treatment. This must end.”
Drawing attention to solutions, Türk stated, “We need to take concrete and meaningful steps to eradicate systemic racism and confront the devastating legacy of colonialism and slavery.”
