United States (US) President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the new responsibilities of US Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack.

Trump announced that Barrack has been appointed as Presidential Special Envoy for Syria and Presidential Special Envoy for Iraq.

The statement noted that Barrack will continue to serve as Ambassador to Türkiye and will work with the full support of the United States Department of State.

Trump stated that Barrack will play an important role in developing strategic cooperation with the governments of Syria and Iraq, saying: "We greatly appreciate the work Tom Barrack has done and his willingness to continue serving our country. Thank you for your interest in this matter!"
