The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shibani met in Damascus with Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.

According to the ministry's statement, the meeting addressed bilateral relations between Syria and Qatar as well as regional developments, while ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the diplomatic field in a manner that serves the interests of both countries were discussed.

It was also announced that, within the framework of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Syrian Arab Republic and the State of Qatar covering cooperation in diplomatic affairs and training.
