Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajic issued a statement regarding the adoption of constitutional amendments by the Parliament of Montenegro.

Spajic said the constitutional amendments are an important condition for closing Chapters 23 and 24 in the negotiations with the European Union (EU).

Spajic said the amendments, adopted with 68 votes, would strengthen the rule of law, judicial independence and the stability of state institutions, and thanked everyone who contributed to the process.

Spajic expressed hope that the adopted constitutional amendments would serve the interests of citizens, legal certainty and the future of Montenegro as it advances toward the European Union.
