Sharif: Pakistan will continue supporting the people of Kashmir
Islamabad, October 27 (Hibya) - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the arrival of Indian forces in Srinagar 79 years ago marked the beginning of a prolonged period in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination was guaranteed by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. Sharif said Pakistan would continue its political, diplomatic and moral support for Kashmir.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif argued in a statement posted on his social media account that the Kashmiri people had been denied their right to self-determination for nearly eight decades, rather than approximately eight years. Sharif said Kashmiris had faced oppression, imprisonment and severe suffering but had maintained their determination despite these hardships.
Sharif stated that the Kashmiri people's demands for freedom could not be suppressed and commemorated the losses suffered by men, women and children in the region.
Affirming that Pakistan stood alongside the people of Kashmir, Sharif said the country's political, diplomatic and moral support would continue until the dispute was resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Sharif's statement was issued as part of the observance of Kashmir Black Day on October 27.
