Rubio: Sanctions imposed on 9 entities and 2 individuals linked to Cuba
Washington, July 23 (Hibya) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that nine entities and two individuals linked to the Cuban government have been placed on the sanctions list.
In his statement, Rubio accused the Cuban government of exploiting its own people and being "the leading supporter of radical leftism and political violence" in the Western Hemisphere.
Rubio stated that those added to the sanctions list include four actors alleged to have profited from forced labor and labor exploitation in Cuba's overseas medical brigades, as well as individuals and entities involved in a sanctions evasion network linked to the Cuban military holding company GAESA. He added that parties providing support, financing, or services to these individuals and entities could also face the risk of sanctions.
Rubio called on foreign banks and companies that provide services to these entities or hold their funds to immediately cease such activities.
