Qatar announced that it welcomes the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the military institutions of the Syrian Arab Republic.

In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the development represents an important step toward consolidating civil peace, strengthening security and stability, and building a state based on institutions and the rule of law.

Qatar reiterated its position that Syria’s stability and prosperity will be strengthened by the state having a single army that represents all Syrians and retaining the monopoly on the use of force.

The statement emphasized that this approach would contribute to safeguarding Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said it appreciates Syria’s approach and the joint efforts to bring all segments of the Syrian people together under state authority.

Qatar also reiterated its support for Syria’s sovereignty in the statement. Doha further reaffirmed its full support for the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, development and prosperity.
