Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa launched the National Council for Digital Transformation and Future Technologies (NDTFT) as part of the Palestinian Digital Renaissance 2026-2029.

Speaking at an event held after the council's first meeting, Mustafa said digital transformation is not merely a technical project or simply the conversion of paper-based processes into electronic services. Mustafa said he views digital transformation as an economic, developmental and national project.

Mustafa said digital transformation should direct existing capacities and resources toward shared priorities, create investment opportunities, improve the efficiency of national institutions, support Palestinian companies and open up new opportunities for young people and the economy in employment and development.

Mustafa said one of the council's first priorities is the adoption of the Palestinian Digital Prosperity Plan together with its implementation framework and project portfolio. He noted that the strategy would now focus on a single national digital transformation portfolio guided by clear priorities, defined responsibilities and measurable performance indicators, rather than separate institutional initiatives operating independently of one another.

Mustafa said Palestine had taken an important step toward expanding its presence in the regional and international digital economy by signing the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Charter and launching the Palestinian Digital Prosperity Plan. He said that, given current conditions, there is a need for an economy capable of exporting services globally, more effective public services and domestic opportunities that young people can access from within Palestine.

Mustafa said the government aims to build a digital Palestine shaped by Palestinian knowledge and labor, and to make technology a new sphere for hope, employment, growth and sovereignty.

Mustafa said the era of managing digital transformation through disconnected and fragmented projects had ended, stressing that a unified national program would be implemented instead.

Mustafa said the initiative is being carried out with various international partners, particularly the Digital Cooperation Organization, partners in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and private-sector companies. He said national goals would be connected with global expertise, strategic investments and regional and international markets.

It was stated that the establishment of the council was the result of more than two years of work under the Digital Transformation Initiative, one of the core initiatives of the government's National Development and Progress Program.

The council includes, alongside the government, the Palestine Monetary Authority, private-sector representatives, universities and research centers, Palestinian experts living abroad and international partners.
