Lula: The Mercosur-EU Agreement is entering into force
Brasilia, May 1 (Hibya) – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union has begun to enter into force.
Lula noted that the agreement is an important development for Mercosur, the European Union and multilateralism, emphasizing that it has been implemented after more than 20 years of negotiations.
He stated that the agreement covers 31 countries, includes a population of 720 million and exceeds a total economic size of 22 trillion dollars, stressing that it will provide employment, income and development for both blocs.
Lula also said that the agreement will offer new opportunities for Brazil, create possibilities for production sectors, increase trade and investments, and strengthen the country’s position globally.
