Lula da Silva: We are strengthening Brazil's shipbuilding industry
Brazil, June 26 (Hibya) – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made remarks on investments in the shipbuilding industry in the state of Santa Catarina.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva emphasized the revival of the shipbuilding industry, the creation of a skilled workforce, and technological development.
Lula said, “The revival of Brazil's shipbuilding industry. The creation of a skilled workforce. The defense of our sovereignty. Technological development. Now we are heading to Santa Catarina.”
Stating that he would attend the ceremony in Itajaí, Lula said, “I will attend the launching and christening ceremony of the frigate Cunha Moreira, the third vessel of the Tamandaré Class.”
Highlighting that the ship was built domestically, Lula said, “The vessel is part of one of the country's most important programs for the technological development and strengthening of Brazil's Defense Industrial Base. It was built in Brazil using state-of-the-art technology and Brazilian labor.”
Referring to Petrobras projects, Lula added, “I will also inspect the construction of offshore support vessels being built under contract for Petrobras. Ten ships are under construction in Itajaí and six in Navegantes, both in the state of Santa Catarina.”
