President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said he received FLACSO Secretary-General Rebecca Forattini Lemos Igreja and reviewed the outcomes of the institution's 26th General Assembly, held in Brasilia in June.

Lula reaffirmed Brazil's commitment to cooperation, higher education and the development of collective solutions to the common challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean.

The statement stressed that regional integration goes beyond economics and trade, encompassing the strengthening of institutional capacity, knowledge sharing, human resource development, coordination of public policies, and joint efforts to promote development, democracy and reduce inequalities.
