According to CCTV, the Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday that an unauthorized vessel was not permitted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said Iran continues to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz amid rising regional tensions and differing statements over whether the strategic waterway is open to maritime traffic.

In its statement, the IRGC Navy argued that US claims that the Strait of Hormuz remains open are “a lie designed to keep oil prices under control.”

The statement said the IRGC’s control over the strategic waterway is “absolutely secure.” It was reported that orders had been issued to prohibit passage for all vessels attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz without coordination with Iran.

The IRGC Navy said the measure would remain in effect until the US military completely ends its actions against Iran and fulfills its obligations.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, meanwhile, said on Friday that Iran and Oman had reached an agreement on reopening the Strait of Hormuz under a coordinated plan.

Pezeshkian said Oman initially supported Iran’s position but later adopted a more cautious approach. Following the latest meetings, he said the two countries reached an understanding on resuming maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz under mutually determined conditions.

Pezeshkian said Iran is determined to ensure that the United States fulfills its commitments if the strait is reopened within a specified framework.

In this context, Pezeshkian stressed that they expect steps from the United States (US), including the lifting of sanctions, an end to the freezing of Iranian assets and a halt to Israel’s “hostile activities” in Lebanon.

Pezeshkian also said contacts with neighboring countries are continuing to strengthen regional cooperation and stability, and that efforts are underway to establish a shared regional vision.
