The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Fadi Faleh Ashour Deghamesh, whom it identified as the commander of the training department in Hamas's military wing, was killed in an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the IDF, Deghamesh oversaw various military training activities in the years preceding the October 7 attacks, including training for Hamas's elite Nukhba unit, and was involved in operations against Israeli forces in Gaza.

The statement further claimed that Deghamesh had recently been involved in rebuilding Hamas's military capabilities and developing new operational plans, and that he was targeted because he posed a threat to Israeli forces.
