Guterres calls for ban on autonomous weapons systems
Brussels, August 25 (Hibya) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, together with International Committee of the Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric, reiterated the call for specific prohibitions and restrictions on autonomous weapons systems.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that humans being autonomously targeted by machines poses a serious danger, stating, "We are now perilously close to crossing a moral red line: humans being autonomously targeted by machines."
Guterres emphasized that technological innovation should serve humanity, saying, "Innovation must serve humanity, not endanger it."
