Fletcher: Thousands injured as death toll rises
New York, August 11 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher provided information on humanitarian aid efforts and emergency response activities following the earthquake in Colombia.
UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher drew attention to the seriousness of the humanitarian situation in the region and said aid teams were actively working on the ground to meet basic needs.
Referring to relief efforts and coordination in the region, Fletcher said, "Our humanitarian team in Colombia is providing urgent assistance for the earthquake response, particularly with water, healthcare and food."
Noting that field teams had been mobilized, Fletcher said, "Thousands of people have been injured and the death toll is rising. We are mobilized."
