European Council President Costa meets Canadian Prime Minister Carney
Brussels, May 4 (Hibya) - European Council President Antonio Costa emphasized during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney that Canada’s participation in the European Political Community Summit strengthens shared values and strategic cooperation.
European Council President Costa made an assessment regarding his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Costa stated that Canada is an important friend and a key ally for Europe, noting that Canada’s participation in the European Political Community Summit clearly demonstrates the closeness and alignment between the two sides. He also highlighted the significance of Canada being invited for the first time as a non-European country within the framework of the European Political Community Summit.
Costa stressed that the European Union and Canada jointly defend the rules-based international order and multilateralism, expressing their determination to further deepen the strategic partnership.
In his statement, Costa also referred to the value of cooperation with Canada, saying: “Having friends like Canada is a great asset.”
