According to CCTV, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met in Shanghai following escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.

During the meeting, both sides called for an end to hostilities and the resumption of negotiations.

China and Pakistan expressed deep concern over the worsening situation in Iran. They urged the parties concerned to immediately halt hostilities, avoid actions that could escalate tensions, and keep communication channels open.

Wang Yi said that the initial phased memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran in June had not been easy to achieve and was the result of bilateral negotiations.

He added that Pakistan's role in coordination and mediation, together with the joint efforts of the international community, had contributed to reaching the agreement.

Wang stated that the core provisions of the memorandum serve the long-term interests of the parties and meet the expectations of the international community, calling on all parties to honor their commitments and abide by the agreement.

He also said China would continue supporting Pakistan's mediation efforts and play a constructive role in easing tensions.

Ishaq Dar briefed Wang on Pakistan's recent initiatives.

Thanking China for its understanding and support, Dar said Pakistan would continue actively promoting peace talks despite the challenges.
