Carney: We have started negotiations for the Saab Airborne Early Warning System
Ottawa, May 27 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that negotiations have begun for the procurement of Saab-produced Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft, stating that the system will strengthen Arctic security.
Carney announced that Canada has started negotiations to procure Saab-produced Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft.
Carney stated that the new system will enhance the Canadian Armed Forces’ ability to detect and deter threats, particularly in the Arctic region.
The statement noted that the project will also contribute to more than 3,000 Canadian jobs in various sectors, especially engineering and technology.
As part of the ongoing process with the system’s manufacturer Saab, Canada aims to modernize its air surveillance and early warning capabilities.
