Reacting to Russia’s attacks, which also targeted sacred sites, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized that Canada’s support for Ukraine will continue.

Highlighting the cultural and religious dimensions of the attack, Carney said, “Canada strongly condemns Russia’s latest attack on Kyiv, including the attack on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a holy site in Ukraine and Eastern Christianity.”

Stating that Canada views Ukraine’s struggle as a shared value, Carney said, “Canada stands with Ukraine because its fight for freedom, democracy, and sovereignty is also our fight.”
