Budrys: International pressure must be increased for the return of Ukrainian children
Vilnius, April 19 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys stated that the international community must apply greater pressure to ensure the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys met with United Nations (UN) Special Representative on Ending Violence Against Children Najat Maalla M’jid within the scope of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Budrys stated that international efforts aimed at returning the Ukrainian children abducted by Russia were discussed during the meeting, saying: “Russia’s illegal deportation, brainwashing, and militarization of Ukrainian children constitute war crimes and forms of violence against children.”
Calling on the international community, Budrys said: “Pressure must be increased to ensure the swift return of all abducted children to their families.”
Budrys also stated that the United Nations should take a leading role in the protection and implementation of children’s rights.
