Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

Stating that his Ukrainian counterpart had contacted him, Araghchi said, "I was assured that the attack on the Iranian vessel was not intentional and that Ukraine does not wish to escalate tensions."

Expressing Iran's principles and demands regarding the matter, Araghchi stated, "Iran also does not want to escalate tensions, but we made it clear that any attack against our citizens or our interests is unacceptable. Compensation must be paid for the losses."
