Anand: Our commitment to freedom of navigation remains unwavering
Ottawa, August 14 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced additional sanctions against 5 Iranian officials involved in actions that obstruct freedom of navigation around the Strait of Hormuz.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand made a statement regarding the new sanctions decisions and Canada's commitment to regional security.
Explaining the scope and targets of the sanctions, Anand said, "Canada is imposing additional sanctions on 5 Iranian individuals involved in obstructing navigation around the Strait of Hormuz and in actions that threaten the security and stability of our allies and partners in the Gulf."
Providing information on the scope of the measures, Anand said, "These measures target senior officials whose activities undermine regional stability, violate international law, disrupt global trade and strain supply chains."
Emphasizing Canada's principled stance, Anand concluded her statement by saying, "Our commitment to freedom of navigation, a cornerstone of regional peace and international security, remains unwavering."
