12 people charged in US as part of election security efforts
Washington, September 28 (Hibya) - The United States (US) Department of Justice reportedly brought cases against 12 people in connection with offenses including illegal voting in federal elections, voter registration and false claims of citizenship to register and vote, with some defendants pleading guilty.
The US Department of Justice reportedly charged 12 people as part of efforts to protect election integrity, with some individuals pleading guilty.
In a statement, the White House said that three of the 12 individuals were undocumented immigrants.
The statement said the cases involved undocumented immigrants voting in federal elections, false claims of citizenship during registration and voting procedures, and false statements in citizenship applications.
