Zelensky: I want Americans to sell 5 percent of the missiles in their stockpiles
Kyiv, August 13 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he has asked the United States to sell Ukraine 5 percent of the PAC-3 interceptors in its stockpiles, saying this would help save lives throughout the winter.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on his country’s air defence capacity and Russia’s ballistic missile attacks in an interview with CNN.
Zelensky said the number of interceptor missiles Ukraine has in 2026 is 2.5 times lower than in 2025, while Russia’s monthly ballistic missile capacity has doubled compared with the previous period.
Zelensky said Ukraine pays the United States 100 percent of the cost of missiles used against ballistic missiles, adding that after the package from the US he personally held talks, meetings and phone calls to secure additional missiles.
Zelensky said that if the United States sells 5 percent of the PAC-3 interceptors in its stockpiles, Ukraine will be able to get through the winter and save lives. He argued that if the US sells 10 percent, Ukraine would be able to destroy all of Russia’s ballistic missiles, adding that it currently has access to only 1 percent of the stockpiles.
