Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the attacks carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are placing Lebanon’s historical and cultural heritage in danger of destruction and expressed concern about the protection of cultural monuments in the region.

Criticizing the military methods used in the Israeli army’s operations, Zakharova said, “We are concerned about threats to Lebanon’s cultural monuments due to the continued large-scale and indiscriminate attacks by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).”

Emphasizing that the attacks are causing irreversible damage to the region’s civilizational heritage, Zakharova concluded her statement by saying, “Cultural heritage sites are being damaged. We are witnessing the erasure of historical memory.”
