Wong: Five years have passed since the fall of Kabul, we stand with the people of Afghanistan
Canberra, August 15 (Hibya) - Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong made remarks on the fifth anniversary of the fall of Kabul and the Taliban's takeover of power.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong emphasized solidarity with the people of Afghanistan and drew attention to Australian personnel who served in the region and those who lost their lives.
Recalling the support given to the people of Afghanistan and the historic process, Wong noted that five years have passed since the fall of Kabul and said her thoughts are with the people of Afghanistan and Afghan communities around the world.
Referring to Australians who served in the region, Wong said they honor those who served in Afghanistan and remember those who are no longer with them.
Concluding her statement in the context of international responsibilities, Wong stressed that Australia would continue working to hold the Taliban accountable.
